1. Nature of Volunteering
This is a voluntary arrangement. It is not a contract of employment, and no wages, leave or other employment entitlements arise under the Fair Work Act 2009 (Cth) or otherwise. Either the volunteer or the Foundation may end the arrangement at any time, for any reason.
2. Code of Conduct
Volunteers agree to act respectfully and courteously toward devotees, staff and other volunteers; follow the reasonable instructions of Foundation coordinators; attend punctually or notify a coordinator if unable to attend; not attend while under the influence of alcohol or drugs; and act in a manner consistent with the Foundation's values.
3. Health & Safety
Volunteers must follow all safety instructions and use any protective equipment provided, report hazards, incidents or near-misses to a coordinator as soon as possible, and only undertake tasks they are competent and fit to perform.
4. Assumption of Risk & Liability
Volunteering may involve inherent risks, including physical activity, food handling, use of equipment, and travel. To the extent permitted by law, volunteers release the Foundation, its committee members, staff and other volunteers from liability for loss, damage or injury arising from volunteering.
5. Property & Equipment
Volunteers agree to take reasonable care of any Foundation property or equipment used while volunteering and may be responsible for loss or damage caused by negligent or improper use.
6. Confidentiality & Privacy
Volunteers must keep confidential any personal information about devotees, donors or other volunteers they access while volunteering, and use it only for Foundation purposes, consistent with the Privacy section above.
7. Photos, Media & Materials
Any photos, videos or written materials created while volunteering may be used by the Foundation on its website, social media and promotional materials. Where a volunteer creates original material (for example, designs or flyers) as part of their volunteering, the volunteer grants the Foundation a free, ongoing licence to use that material for its purposes.
8. Working with Children
Where a role involves direct, unsupervised contact with children, the volunteer confirms the Working with Children Check details provided are accurate. Providing false information is a serious offence. The Foundation may end a volunteer's involvement immediately if a child-safety concern arises.
9. Termination
The Foundation may end a volunteer's involvement at any time, including where conduct breaches this Code, without that decision needing to establish fault.
10. Governing Law
This agreement is governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia.
